Health and Lifestyle Consultation
It is imperative that personal training is personal. This means that it is bespoke and adapted to your individual circumstances and lifestyle. This enables you to get the most from the programme of training and allows me to understand fully how to respond to your physical, mental and emotional condition throughout the training programme.
These factors are an important element in any training programme and fully understanding the client. For these reasons, it is advisable that the initial consultation focuses on these lifestyle factors as well as the physical programme to be pursued. Accordingly, as well as a detailed physical health assessment, the initial consultation includes the completion of a number of lifestyle and personality questionnaires, including some or all of the following (note: some will require completion over a period before the next training session, to record sufficient appropriate lifestyle information):
These are not mandatory, but they are advisable and useful. Sometimes we rarely pause to consider these issues, reflect on them, still less think how they affect our daily lives and choices (and not just those regarding physical activity). There are no right or wrong answers. The questionnaires and diaries are only as honest as you are, but the more honest you are, the better the results will be and the earlier behaviour modifications can be identified and positive change experienced.
